1-on-1 Coaching

I hate to brag…but I have been referred to as a coaching genius. Lebron James level. And just like Lebron loves basketball so much he hasn’t retired (yet), I too love the reflective and transformative space of 1-on-1 coaching.
I’d experienced some light coaching over the years, but my life really changed when I met Dr. Melissa Peet of the Generative Knowledge Institute. She taught me how to ask questions and listen differently. I took to it so much and haven’t looked back! I personally feel so much more in alignment with my purpose and strengths and can more quickly flip myself into an energy-filled place because I’ve received coaching.
What do you want to unlock for yourself?
We will start with that question as we partner to identify a coaching plan based on your goals. We can work together for 3 to 12 months depending on the outcomes you are working towards. Before each session you will get a prep worksheet that will help you surface the experiences you will share with me during our session. Each session will result in a set of actionable insights that we then use to craft an implementation plan. An insight is only as useful as a concrete plan to integrate it into your life, so the assignments in between sessions are designed to support the integration needed to see changes.
Sessions are usually every 2-3 weeks depending on how much time you will need for practicing the integration elements in between.
Coaching in Action
I find giving specific examples is helpful especially if you haven’t worked with a coach before.
This is a real plan for a leader I worked with for 4 months.
Context:
A community leader experiencing burnout who wanted to focus on identifying the best opportunities
for them, leaning into conflict in a generative way when needed, and being able

CONNECTING TO MEANING & PURPOSE
Doing what you feel meant to be doing - that sense of purpose and clarity is an energy fuel in and of itself. And that isn’t tied to a specific job or career. For this leader it was to “Create experiences of love and safety so people can tap into their own power.” This can be accomplished in so many ways and when you add an awareness of the environments that make it easy to show up as your best, you can put yourself in more situations that are energizing.
-
ESCAPING FRUSTRATION
This leader was spending a lot of energy being frustrated with themselves (and others) because they were overriding their instinct to say no and instead saying yes to things they didn’t want to do. Sound familiar? Being stuck somewhere you already knew you didn’t want to be will drain your energy for sure. We were able to identify a decision tree that helped them make values aligned decisions quickly. Avoiding overthinking is an energy win too!
-
DEALING WITH CONFLICT IN NEW WAYS
Conflict is bound to arise in any work but especially in community work where people are doing a lot with a little. This leader knew that conflict can in fact be generative and lead to stronger relationships and better outcomes when handled thoughtfully. We worked on integrating a conversation framework for those tough conversations and on how they could self-regulate going into them to help others feel more grounded as well. Dealing with conflict sooner cut down on the energy drain they were experiencing.
-
FINDING JOY
We had to clear out those energy drains in the earlier sessions so we could make room for joy. Joy! That’s what we all deserve but don’t always experience. By getting way more specific about what joy looked like for them, they made it more actionable and easy to access.
